This part of the course requires us to design at least eighteen designs for our topic of choice. I chose to use the plakatstil style as my inspiration for new No Phone Zone concepts. The No Phone Zone Campaign is a campaign that fights for banning phone usage in the car. Here are all eighteen designs that I drew on my Visual Diary.
Note: You would notice the lack of color in these photos. I did not color everything to allow creative generation as putting a color limits the imagination. The only things that are colored is to emphasize the meaning. For example: Red for blood or Blue for police.

Concept # 1: Distraction |
This first piece is entitled Distraction. It is not obvious, but the person in the car is speaking on the phone. This depicts the ability of the phone to distract the driver.
Concept # 2: Remorse |
This second piece is entitled Remorse. It depicts the sadness and guilt if a person knocks another person while on the phone when driving.
Concept #3: Cause |
Thirdly, we have Cause. This is pretty much obvious from the picture. The red here symbolizes blood.
Concept #4: Grim |
The fourth concept is entitled Grim. To be honest, I just let my imagination flow on this and this is what came out. You can see that the shadow of the guilty man becomes that of a cowled being.
Concept #5: Logo |
In the fifth place, we have Logo. This is not a straight and upright Logo design for the No Phone Zone. It is actually a picture of a broken phone in the middle of a hubcap and having its strap across it.
Concept#6: Consequences |
Concept six is entitled Consequences. This lists a few consequences of what may happen when you speak on the phone while driving. The things portrayed are 1. Hitting a jaywalker, 2. Getting arrested, 3. Getting jailed, and 4. Loosing a loved one.
Concept#7: Prevention |
Concept seven is called Prevention. It shows a man driving while a zoom up on the phone shows the phone on silent mode.
Concept #8: Death |
I named concept eight Death. This is the Grim Reaper holding a handphone. The meaning is pretty clear.
Concept #9: Law |
The next concept is pretty similar with number eight and is named Law. Instead of the Grim Reaper, we have a policeman holding a phone with one hand and showing the motion for stop with the other.
Concept #10: Remember |
Concept ten is entitled Remember. This portrays a demonstration held with pictures of phone negligence victims.
Concept #11: Funeral |
The eleventh concept is entitled Funeral. It shows people in a coffin fashioned to look like a phones.
Concept #12: Ambulance |
The twelfth concept is called Ambulance. This shows an ambulance fashioned to look like a phone.
Concept #13: Tombstone |
The thirteenth concept is named Tombstone. It shows tombstones fashioned to look like phones.
Concept #14: Decisions |
The next concept is labeled Decisions. It shows a man in the driving seat holding a phone. There is a devil pointing at the phone while an angel points towards the road.
Concept #15: Crash |
Concept fifteen is entitled Crash. It shows two cars looking like phones crashing into each other.
Concept #16: Screensaver |
The next concept is called Screensaver. This design shows a road leading into a phone screen. Behind the phone is a brick wall and the screen is only a painted up part of the brick wall.
Concept #17: Petrol Station |
Concept seventeen is named Petrol Station. Here it shows a petrol pump that looks like a phone on fire.
Concept #18: Suicide |
The final concept is called Suicide. This shows a phone hanging by the "neck" on a noose. The Grim Reaper stands ready to collect his soul.
These are my eighteen concepts but I plan to expand more on Concept #2, 6, 8, 11, 13, 14, and 16.
